oven roasted chestnuts

IMG_2808Imagine walking down the streets in Paris during the late fall or winter. The sky is greyand the streets are busy with fashionable French women. In the street corners small stands with smoke surrounding them and as you get closer you can smell the wood burning at the stand. By the stand sits two older men, stirring chestnuts vendors stand, by a small French older man, with a cigarette in the corner of his mouth. As one gets closer you can feel the smell of roasted chestnuts, it’s a scent that cant be described, because it’s a scent that one can only smell in Paris during fall, the crisp cold air, the leaves falling to the ground, the wood burning and the chestnuts being roasted.

Now, let me just begin to say, this recipe won’t be as magical as the chestnuts you will taste in Paris but they are quite good and very delicious, and above all they are easy and quick to make.

9 ounces/ 250 g chestnuts
